Default Rigid Sander

I've about made up my mind to trade in my Ryobi belt/disk sander for the RIDGID Oscillating Edge/belt spindle Sander Model EB4424 sold at Home Depot at the end of the month when they give their vets discount.

Anyone out there have any experience with this machine? How does it handle dust collection? Is there a port or what?

It has a lifetime warranty. Wonder how this works?

Hi Chase,

I have the Rigid model EB4424. Purchased at Home Depot in November 2001 for $231.00.

It has been a very useful piece of equipment in my shop. There is an exhause port in the back of the machine. I have my unit hooked to a cheap shop vac, it does work well. I frequently use a foot control while using this machine.

I think if you purchase this model, you should get many useful years of service.

My question for you is - What are the details of the end of the month vet discount. Have never heard of this. Army vet 1964-1966. Perhaps this is your local store only.

Good luck with your purchase.

Here in Virginia, Home Depot, Lowes too, give 10% off if you have a military ID card (retired or active) the week of Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. Our store accepts most anything and gives a coupon. Try a wallet size pic of your discharge cert. The worst they can say is no.

Chase on the Ridgid sander - I feel the same as woodenfish - this is a very good piece of equipment. With the attachment for the vacuum system - there is little if any dust. I love the spindle sander - even more than the belt sander. I have a small sliding jig that keeps my work square with the sander - and as I stated - the machine is to me at least - the top of the line in Belt/Spindle sanders. I would purchase one in a heart beat.

"RIDGID Oscillating Edge/belt spindle Sander". That's a mouth full to say. Nice looking sander, worth looking into. I was thinking of the oscillating spindle sander. Now I'll be taking another look at this also.
