Did anyone else get the flyer from Rockler selling the Dewalt 788 with light and stand for $479 + tax? Is Delta coming out with a new model and needs to move older stock?

You talking about the DeWalt as opposed to the Delta? That's about a right price for it around these parts.

![]() BTW, Delta is no longer making scroll saws. Since both Delta and DeWalt are now owned by Black & Decker they have decided that the DeWalt 788 is the only scroll saw they will continue to manufacture. In many cases they are even unable to service Delta scroll saws due to the non-availability of parts. I recently ran into this when I took a 6-month old Delta SS350 in for service. The local Delta service center couldn't find any of the parts that were needed to fix it. -- TheMediaBoy -- | |

Well, Great price at Rockler and woodcraft or not, I scored one yesterday. A gentleman in the DFW Scollers group had two 788s with approx. 2 hours each on them for sale. I got the last one he had. Saw, stand. and ligth for $300. Persistance and patience paid off this time....... Now it has a new home and I can't wait to kill a few Honey-do's!!!!

My understanding is that the Dewalt 788 was made by Excalibur. General International (the oversea's division of General tools of Canada)has now taken over Excalibur and they are producing the 21 and 30" saws. I talked to a Dewalt factory rep at an open house at a local tool store here and he would not say that they will keep the 788 going. If that is the case we might see the price come down even more while they last. Also while I am flapping my gums here, I have noticed a few posts that mention getting a 788 rebuilt. What kind of price does that amount too? I have a lot of side play on mine. Thanks, Alan.

I see how rumors get started ! What are the real facts about the take over & whether or not the 788 will continue to exist. I have a 788 & really like it, with no problems. Would hate to see it fade away. Or are you looking for an answer to your statement. Let us know if it is REAL or not ! Thanks Larry

I was looking for an answer about fixing my Dewalt 788, it is a great saw and worth fixing. I have a new Excalibur 30" on order, so there is no panic.
