Since buying my Hawk G4 I have been a big proponent of the brand( as we all are with our saws) I absolutely love my saw. Now having said that. Last night one of our members brought in a 1995 Hawk that he just bought used. If my first experience with a hawk would have been this model I would probably be a Hegner owner. For ease of use the G4 has made massive strides. It also made me realize the improvement that Variable speed is over a 3 speed belt . It also pointed out to me how important it is to take someone along that is knowledgable about the saw when purchasing a used saw. I think this saw took a hit as the upper arm is out of alignment with the lower creating a side to side blade motion. Anyone have this saw and have any suggestions about this miss alignment.? I tweaked it for him a bit and the saw cuts well, is smooth and quiet.

An interesting observation Rolf. What it really says is Hawk is working hard to improve their products. I think I would have gone the G4 route myself if I had been able to see and touch one locally. I have their latest DVD and have watched it several times.

Ajay I would really like to try the Excalibur. I like the concept of the table staying level when cutting at an angle. It should help the tendency to push the project down hill. I look forward to your review of the EX21.
