I was surprised at the construction of the table on my EX21. It is a textured surface but the wood does glide over it.
I took the hold down foot off and I think I will use that spot to mount a work light.
I have to also figure out how I can hook up a vacuum. Anny suggestions would be appreciated

Carl:
I haven't figured that one out either. Plus the saw dust will fall on you knees when you are cutting. I use a leather apron so as to catch as much dust as possible. But I keep forgetting and get up with out dumping the dust first. The bottom of the saw is too open. But its performance makes up for dust trouble.

General International (Seyco), the maker/distributor of Excalibur saws has a vacuum adapter to fit the EX-21. It is called a DVA-02 and I would imagine it connects to the hose on a standard vacuum.

I'm trying to figure out how to hook up an articulated flourescent/magnifying lamp to my saw. I can clamp the light onto the sawbench but the table interferes with ballast assembly at the base. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Carl, are you going to hook up a regular light but mount it where the hold down foot was/is? I haven't thought of that. It might work, but I'd have to go find a gooseneck light.

That was the plan ajay. I might just use a high output LED.
That way there is no heat build up.
I have a small LED flashlight with a gooseneck.
You can also get them for BBQs. One like that would work.

I will look into the vacuum adapter. The dust is a bit of a pain.
I have an old blower I used to use on an old saw, I will see what I can come up with.

Anyone who makes a pattern of a dustcollector should post it on here for all of us who just turned 21

That's great John, I am sure you will be very happy with it, not as happy as if you had gotten a Hawk . . . . but then I am just stirring the pot anyway!
Congrats brother, i am sure you will have many happy hours of cutting!

I suggest you follow the adivice from our friend Kevin. Or you could tell her the saw is a present for her. But....... once she gets started don't expect to have a turn on the saw any time soon. If all else fails there will always be a spare room in northeast Ohio for you. But I have to warn you, I am still working with a very basic Craftsman scrollsaw. You could always bring the new saw with you. Wouldn't we have fun?

I picked up some Johnson's paste wax at the Lowes near me. It was in the "Cleaning Products" aisle next to the Endust and Pledge spray wax.
