Didn't have a router yet, and wasn't at the top of the list, but I got a great deal on a Milwaukee 5615-21 and a Ryobi router table. Got em both brand new for $80. Milwaukee is a good tool. This ones 1 3/4hp single speed. The table is plenty big enough for any of the woodwork I should do any time soon. It does have a lot of plastic parts, but still feels OK. Got a few cheap bits and played around with some scrap wood. Kinda cool! Should be a good starter toy. Oh yeah. My wife already has a project for me to work on. Wish me luck.

Kevin: With a router, router table and a scrollsaw, the world is yours. Let the sawdust fly.

Kevin, I so agree, how did you ever do without one. they are a great and handy tool for sure. have fun. I consider this to be a fun tool. a must for cabnet makers, but a toy for us. have fun but be caifull. they can take off a fingure in a hart beet. but makes a pretty cut. |

You'll love your router for sure. Handy for a lot of things, the more I use mine, the more I realize how versatile it is. Congrats on your new toy! Chris

Congrats on the new toy.BUT....... I will warn you, at 24,000 RPM's, should you really be trusting a couple cheap bits? The reason I say that is because only a couple weeks ago while using a cheap keyhole router bit on my tablemounted router, the bit discintegrated, one piece of carbide still attached to that cheap oriental steel flew across the basement like a projectile shot from a 44 magnum, and was found embedded into a 2X4 stud about 10 feet away, the other carbide I thought flew also, but was embedded deep into the walunt I was working with, and I found that piece when I had to trim off the edge of the board because of the damage caused with the flying shrapnel. I found that other half with my good mitersaw blade that cost me about 70 bucks, luckily the router bits carbide was such a low quality it didnt really do much damage to my sawblade. The router table is around belly height, had that flying piece of bit hit me, I am sure it would have went halfway through me, so do be careful! Dale

Dale, you are one lucky individual. Any tool can be lethal but a router spinning at those speeds is something else again.
