Default PS wood

I have been looking at upgrading and done a lot research on my own. I have read all the threads on here about the different saws but dont remember anything about the PS wood. I have been leaning towards the Dewalt but was wondering if the PS wood is better or even yet is the RBI that much better yet. I am not wanting to start a debate but just want to make a more educated decision before shelling out significant cash.

Terry
I own two Dewalt 788's type 1. I use them heavily. They are a very good saw for the money. They have performed very well and are reliable.
I demo'ed a P S Wood 21" scroll saw at the wood show this year. It seemed to be a worthy saw and I liked the way it cut, the main drawbacks for me were, it is a bottom feeder and I like to top feed and I like variable speed control. With the P S saw you have to roll the belt onto a different diameter pulley to change speeds.
Hope this is of some help.

I took a look at the PS Wood saw at the woodworking show in Saratoga springs NY April 5th. It has a very aggressive stroke. The front to back blade motion is as much as my old Delta SS350. That is why I now own a G4.
not saying that they don't cut great but for fine detail work I find the cut too agressive. I don't find the belt thing to be a major issue, in reallity how often do we really change the speed on our saws?
I still have never had the chance to use a Dewalt.

Well, some of us do change speeds often. I actually think that I change speeds in the middle of the majority of my cuts, and regularly quite radically. I would find myself a bit left in the lurch if I couldn't change speed on the fly.

I don't change the speed very often.

I change the speed enough times to make that a definite drawback. Most scrollers complain about saws that require tools to change blades. To me this is just as bad or worse. I own a DeWalt and have no complaints about it. Especially for the money. Fantastic saw for the price.
