Default Flex drum sander

So I got my new flex drum sander today from JGR Studios (yay!). I did figure out how to put it on my Delta drill press, although I'm the least tool competent person in the world ;p However, it doesn't seem to be straight (the bottom part is out of line) and it makes the drill press walk around like crazy, although the drill press is very quiet with the drill head on it. Any ideas?

Magpie,
I keep a 1/4 by 10 inch piece of straight rod around the shop to check the run out on my drills, lathes etc. You could also just put a regular drill in the chuck and make sure it doesn't wobble. The longer rod makes the wobble more evident.
Does the center rod wobble or is it just the foam covering?

The center rod--that must be it, the spindle must be not quite straight, although I didn't notice it while drilling. So how can I straighten the spindle up? That doesn't seem to be covered in the manual, darn it.

Pull the chuck off (use two pry tools), the turn the press on and make sure there is no wobble. If there is your problems run deeper and you should take it in to a repair center, if not then I would just replace the chuck. Also, like Rolf suggested, put a long bit in and see if it wobbles, if it doesn't then the sanding drum is not true, take it back and ask to have it replaced.
