Default Powermatic 14" Bandsaw

Woodcraft has a special right now on the Powermatic 14" Bandsaw and I was curious if anyone has one or experience with one and could recommend it or not. Also I don't have a planer or jointer yet and was wondering am I putting the cart on front of the horse so to speak. There is an artist studio type place new in town and they offer memberships to their woodshop that is fully tooled. 12" jointer, planer, bandsaw, tablesaw, etc and I am planning on joining soon but I thought maybe I should grab the Woodcraft deal while I can and start building up my own (very small) shop. I figure I could take a stack of rough cut lumber in town, joint and plane it, and then should I need to re-saw a piece for a project and the schedule or time doesnt permit another trip to the studio I could re-saw at home and hand sand smooth. Good,Bad,Dumb idea? For now I'm just doing small plywood based scrollsaw projects but would like to do some of the projects that require dimensioned hardwoods.

Sorry for the long post and any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, including if I should steer clear of the Powermatic saw for whatever reason. It's on sale but still a healthy investment.

Thanks again
Eric

I saw that sale, but I would opt for the Grizzly G0555 who's specs are essentially identical and it's about half the price. I've had one for 3 years and have never had an issue with it.
