Just wondering (and often getting lost), if any one had any experience or used one of these micro saws ? A co-worker who builds Model airplanes told me about it.

Aaa how cute! A baby saw! I keep suggesting that I get micro tools - like a mini lathe etc, but hubby pooh, poohs the idea, ''cos he has all the daddy jobs that he reckons do the same thing. In truth, if it were up to me, the mini ones would do and it would certainly leave more room in the workshop and, for limited space I would imagine they are ideal. Sue |

Pete. that is so cute. why not and Sue. my hubby boo boos every thing I do also. untill he sees what I can do with it. LOL. I agree. the cost of some of these little tools are just to cheap. I have all the big ones. and he uses the heck out of them. need tool time.LOL. but I wish I had one of those little table saws. just to cut a small piece. that way I don't have to change out alot of big stuff and blades. to cut a 2" piece,1/4" thick or 1/8". that would just fall through the opening. and the 6" blade wouldn't throw it across the room. those little table saw blades might be hard to find. latter. . don't know. just thought it would work. I also wont one of those little laths. just for my finiales. he says no. I say WHAT. who wins. guess I am stuborn. oh well. I also wonted one of those small 1"belt sanders. He got me one for valintine day. how cool. works great. guess who burned out the switch first. sure liked that little tool. now I need a new one. go figure. your friend Evie

yes i have used one before, and still have it in my cabin. Mine was the minicraft one, ok for soft wood, but wont handle anything hard, not that precise either, and NO, i wouldn't buy another. On the other hand, the proxon one was supposed to be the dogs danglies at that time.

I have an old dremel table saw I got on E-Bay. Between it and a small band saw I have it has done all the cutting I need.

I saw one at HF and thought about getting it. What turned me off is they do look really inaccurate, and the blade doesn't look like it would make a very clean cut. I would only use it for thin plywood anyways. Maybe if they made better cutting blades that were easy to find I would reconsider.

I have had a 4" Dremel table saw for years and found it to be extremely useful, especially for cutting small pieces. I have carbide blades for it and have not had a problem cutting Maple, Red Oak, etc. up to about 3/4" thick. True, you can't feed the work too fast, but I seldom cut wood that thick. My Dremel Mini Lathe is another story. I found I can do the same small work just as easy on my 12 x 36 Craftsman lathe, so the mini lathe was actually a waste of money, but I wouldn't be without a mini table saw.

Well, they might be fun to play with, I might get one if I get any thing on my income tax return/payout. My co worker said he did not have any problems with it, but only cut 1/8" birch ply and balsa wood. I have a problem with impulse buying. So I'll force myself to hold off. May be the shakes and sweating will go away.
