Default Metal cutting

I started this thread as to not hijack this thread.

Metal Cutting

There was an article in the "Other Magazine" about cutting the state quarters. I think John Polhemus wrote it. You make a jig to hold the quarters and drill entry holes and cut away. I cut quite a few. Give them as tips at diners etc. I used FDPS #2/0 33tpi blades. They cut the quarters very well. Just don't try to do spin turns.....snap. You HAVE to have some kind of holder to cut metal this small............they get HOT. Cutting them had no ill effects on my saw at all. I did vacuum all the wood saw dust from the saw BEFORE cutting the quarters and vacuumed very well after cutting them.
These three are ones that didn't come out as good as I wanted so I still have them. The rest have all been given away. You should see the looks on the waitresses faces when you hand them what they think is a regular quarter as a tip (the boy are you cheap look) and then they see that it is cut, it is funny.

To be honest, I think my eyes are no where near good enough for me to try that.

The quarters look very good. I have not got into anything that small yet. You are very generous giving your work out at the restaurant. I hope the waitstaff were really good that day.

I totally forgot about the quarters. I've done a few myself last year. I lost the jig I made to hold them so I haven't done anymore yet. I have a little bag of state quarters just waiting for me when I make another jig. Those are pretty fun if you have the patience to do them, and people love them. They also make great necklace pendants.
