Default aftermarket upper blade holder

Does anyone have any first hand information regarding aftermarket blade holders such as the ones for sale at this site to be used on an RBI scroll saw? http://www.pozsgaidesigns.com/page0006.htm

I like the idea of having a single flip lever to release and reattach the blade, but would like to hear if it works as described.

Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

John, that looks very similar to the Quickset II blade clamps that are on the Delta P-20. I have used them for a number of years and they work great, have never had a problem with them. There is an adjustment, knurled screw you adjust to whatever size blade you are using then you just flip the handle to clamp or unclamp the blade. You don't have to change it until you use a different thickness blade.

Mick,
Thanks, that is good to know. I have read where some have had to replace the upper blade holder on their Hawk saws when the holder is not holding as it should. RBI's cost on the blade holder is approx $30, but if this item works as good, if not better, then I wouldn't mind spending the extra for the added convenience.

My question is on the first $49 set. If that is just the Delta clamp, it sells for just over $20, do you get a new arm or tip for the arm with it. Looks like buying the Delta clamp then maybe grinding the mount end you could make your own.
I wish they showed more of what you are really getting.

Rick,
Do you have a part number for the Delta clamp?

Thanks,
John

G'day all,
I have a Delta, and found it to be great saw. I too especially liked the top blade clamp.
I had to replace the bolt that holds the whole thing together a couple of times, but it works fine. I also likes the set tension lever.
I was considering getting 2 replacement clamps, one to fit on the bottom arm. I'm now not sure if the outlay would be worth it as the pin holes that connecting rod fixes to have worn quite a bit. I've re-shimmed them once
Being someone that hates to chuck anything, the saw just sits there now waiting for me to make a decision one way or the other.

John, I see that the 2 sites Rick posted the part number is 40-251. The parts list that came with my Delta P-20 shows it as part number 40-250. $49.95 does seem to be rather much. I measured the hole on my spare with a drill bit and it is just slightly larger than 13/64. The hole that you fasten it to the saw with. Hope this helps.

Mick,
How wide is the stem that fits into the yoke with the hole in it? My Hawk has a smaller hole in it, but I am sure I can make a bushing for the holder to make it fit. The big question now is the width, which I am sure can be modified or shimmed as well.

Thanks for the information!
