Just curious about this little saw. It is an RBI, but it must be a really early model. Hopefully Rick will know more about this model, I've never seen it before until tonight browsing ebay. Kind of "cute" looking. dale

Thanks Dale, I wasn't interested in buying it. Usually Ebayer's will put up more than one picture. Was interested in seeing more pics.

That saw appears to be an older version with the Fasco AC motor. RBI also were manufactured under the "Record" brand in Great Britain, with green metal work. |

It's nice looking. Looks better than the red. I spoke with the owner one day and was telling him about how the saw was rather ugly and deffinitely lacked style considering the price. When I think style in tools, I think Hitachi, with their cool moldings and their bright greens and silvers. Could it hurt to have more than one color and some cool moldings on the saw, perhaps some neon and chrome accessories? I was suggesting two accessorie arms instead of one, the main arm perhaps black, the two accessory arms on either side being shaped like swords with holes in them all the way back and chromed out. The main arm with LED lights so when it runs up and down at high speed the lights leave a trail and shoot through the holes in the chrome. I figure he thought I was off my rocker, but I told him exactly all those things anyhow.

I wrote Hawk about this 'blue saw.' This is what they had to say about it: "This was called our Hobby Hawk. It is an 18 “ model that was made in the late 80’s. Amazing these old saws are still going strong. Notice any similarities? Thanks for you interest and curiosity." Best, Dan Bixby |
