Default Band Saw for Dummies

I found all the owners manuals for all my tools except for the band saw.
I wanted to go back and check the directions for setting up the saw....
the saw came with a blade already installed and I thought it should be pre-adjusted from the factory.
boy was I wrong! no wonder I couldn't get a good cut.
I'm almost too embarrass to post these pictures.....

this is the bottom roller bearing assembly....you talking about being out of whack...

the top wasn't as bad...

way too tight! no give what so ever....

to be continued....

I took everything apart and started re-adjusting everything.

#1, remove the table....

#2, set the tracking of the blade on the wheels to make sure the blade is centered on the wheels and that there should be close to a 1/4 inch play in the tension of the blade....

#3, adjust bottom bearings guides so that there is a clearance of a dollar bill between the blade and the guides....

#4, adjust the upper bearing guides....

#5, to test, spin the wheel to rotate the blade and it shouldn't turn the bearing guides until you add the slightest pressure....

#6, put the table back on and square up the blade to the table....

#7, start cutting.....

it doesn't get any better than that!

Glad you got that working well. A tool is one thing, but it cannot hope to compare with a well tuned tool. I wouldn't mind having a good bandsaw to see about turning some of the wood here into veneer. I suppose I am not sure where I would put a bandsaw though.
