Has anyone tried these Abrasive cords and tape. I found out about them on a (brand X) message board. www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=20181&cat=1,42500

Pajaro thanks for posting that site......I was going to ask my dentist where he got those thin sandpaper strips he uses between teeth, but this will work much better I think. Eager to learn if anyone has tried this stuff. WD |

I do use the #56 and love it. It is great for inside cuts that are too small for regular sand paper. Diane

Good idea. Remember to watch out for the size on those, because they are listed in no order at all. The #56 cord is .094", and the #58 twice that in diameter. The first three are listed largest at the top. Tor

I am not at home right now but I know that mine is in a spool like "A" and "D" and it is not 120 grit. I'm sure it's 180 grit so it has to be #56. It is the size that was recommended by the scrollsaw seminar person at the store. Diane

WOO! HOO! I learned a new word today. Marquetarian. I had to look it up to find out what it means. But that is what message board is for. To find and learn new things. Thanks TOR! Now if I can find some place in Dallas that sells Abrasive cords. I think I'll try some. Have a great Labor Day weekend.

Sanding? I don't do no stinkin sanding. If you guys use a decent blade a good saw and a couple of brewskiis you would see no need for the sanding. Just kidding so turn OFF the torch. Have a Great weekend. My wife and I are goin to Lancaster PA for a few Craft fairs. We need a break. one in Manheim and one in Long's Park. That should be usefull to the turners also.

Diane, I was more noting that the cord numbers have no relationship to the size of the cord. If you have something that you like then you are good to go, but if you try something else, look at the specs, or for someone who has yet to try the cord, watch what you are getting. Marquetarian: One who does Marquetry. I don't know that you will find Marquetarian in the dictionary, but Marquetry certainly will be. Tor

I googled Marquetarian. You can find anything (real or not) on the Internet. Thanks Tor. I'm still a hobbyist with scroll sawing so now is the time to make mistakes.
