Nice Trout! Glad to see you thought ahead and bought one with more than a 4" high stock capability. I really wish I would have gotten a larger saw when I bought mine but like you, space is a factor. Now get yourself a good light for over the table. Get yourself some fine tooth, 1/8' blades too for tighter work. A resaw jig is great to make also for cutting 3/4" stock in half. And........ Sorry... I've made more darn jigs and accessories for all my power tools to make some stuff we do repetatively easier, I tend to start rambling. By-the-way.... A clean shop is the sign of a sick person!!! You could at least throw a little saw dust around so the rest of us feel at home.

Trout ignore Pop, a clean shop is a happy shop...a woodworker who doesn't go looking for his toys when he needs them is a happy woodworker ( I kid ya Pop even if you might be a shop pig, you do produce some fine work). Am I the only one who burns scented candles in the shop to offer some soothing scents? I think I said to much once more...

Hey, a clean shop is essential if you're working with small pieces. I've spent too much time on the floor looking for something smaller than a pencil eraser. I do inlay work and duplicating parts isn't really an option. I need to use the pieces I make the first time. I learned fast that keeping my floor clean was important. Nice saw Trout. I'm jealous. Maggots?

I find that cobwebs are great for catching the small pieces. ![]() When I lived in England I saw a guy fishing at the bank of a small stream. I asked him what he was using for bait and he just pointed to a bucket, well the bottom of it was full of squirming maggots. Grossed me right out but he did have several nice fish.

I've tried to model my shop floor after the old Irish pubs in NY that have sawdust on the floor to catch the spilled brews... not really. If my floor wasn't cleaner than I let on, my 85 year old uncle (that visits me every Wednesday) would kick my butt. Besides, I need to keep it clean to be able to find the parts of my QC II that keep exploding all over the place when I use spiral blades... Riv... I didn't get to be this old being thin skinned. You didn't offend me if you think you may have.... honest.

All this talk of clean shops has made me feel guilty so I just spent the last 3 hours cleaning up! Don't want Todd calling me a shop-pig ...

yesterday, all I could think about was getting home from work and playing with my new saw...I get home, looked at my wood choices and drew a blank....so I ended up just looking at it.... Today, I went out and spend a $50 gift card on some wood and I'm going to resaw it down into some thinner pieces.... Trout |
