Default New spindle sander

Bought a new spindle sander a week ago.

Unfortunately, I had surgery last Monday on my foot and haven't had a chance to take it out of the box yet.

It's not a high dollar piece of equipment, I bought it at Harbour Freight. I figured it wasn't a piece of equipment that I would use all the time, but I wanted a new toy for my shop and this was next on the "to buy" list.

I have an order for one of the Shalom puzzles from an earlier SSWC issue and I'll get a chance to put it to work on that.

I love my spindle sander. I bought one of the Porter-Cable models that I can put into my router table, so I don't have wasted space in my small shop.

If you ever do any bandsaw boxes, you'll find it invaluable.

i got my HF spindle sander a few weeks ago...and love it. No, it's not as pretty as the Delta or Ridgid, but guess what? it does what it's supposed to do. The first thing I did was to get the 150 grit sleeves for it. It comes with 80 grit and is VERY aggressive. It just so happens that HF has the sleeves on sale right now for $3.99/set with an email coupon.

I believe this is one of HF's "diamonds in the rough" machines. I also have their 10" SCMS and like that, as well. For $99, it does everything I require of it.

Good luck with your sander it is a very useful tool and I feel it is a must have if you are doing intarsia.

A while ago I bought the Jet spidle sander. It is a bit pricey but it has a 1/4 inch spindle. I just started using this machine heavily in the last 2 weeks on an Intarsia project. The 1/4 inch spindle has been very critical for some very small parts and curves.

PS Jeff's opinion on the Jet was the finall deciding factor Thanks !! Jeff
