Default Deal or No Deal

Woodcraft Supply in my area offers the following deal: new in the box dewalt 788, with the light and stand for $489.00 plus a $50.00 mail in rebate from dewalt. Looking to buy this saw. Deal or No Deal. Pickup it at the store only 8 miles from my house.

I'd say it's a deal, IF you get the rebate. I got my DW788 for $405 and the stand and light were an additional $80, neither of which I bought. I searched the net for it and the cheapest I found it was at amazon.com for $419 withouth the stand and light. You can also get the $50 rebate, but Amazon charges $50 for shipping so that's a wash. Go drive 8 miles and get your saw!

That sounds like a very good deal to me. The stand and light alone are worth close to $100. And, by picking it up, you can maybe check out the squareness of the table and also attach a blade and tighten to make sure the blade doesn't pop out. Some of the newer Dewalts aren't square and the blade holders are so far apart that the blades don't stay in. Being this close, you can check it out and if there is a problem after getting it set up, it should be easy to return it.

Default Deal

I'll add my two cents. It's a good deal. I paid $473 without the rebate.

Huh. The Woodcraft flyer I got has the same deal except the cost is $530. I think that's still a decent deal, with the rebate and all, but I wonder why the difference. It's Woodcraft, not the housing market or gas prices.

Is it set up or in the box ? If it is set up then it may be their demo/classroom saw. My Woodcraft was $529 , the one on the floor had a $499 tag on it and it was a type one ! I quietly tried to buy the floor model but they would not sell
They said the ones for sale were on the shelf . Still a good deal though, I paid much more for mine
