Question Air filtration

Does anyone own or have any knowledge concerning portable air filtration units ? My shop is 12 x 20 and I'm looking at a Delta AP100
Any pros or cons on this or any other unit ?

I don't know any specifics about the Delta 100. I have a Jet 1000B w/ 3 speeds (cfm 550,702,1044 ). My shop is about the same size as yours(12X22I use mine on the low speed most of the time and then run it on high for a few minutes when i'm ready to quit working for awhile. Hi speed is noisy. I highly recommend them because even with my dust collection system there's always fine dust in the air. I would also recommend getting the 1 micron inner filters, but I think most of the new systems have 1 micron filters now. Perhaps I'm paranoid, but if I'm doing a lot of sanding, I still wear a dust mask even though my dust collector and the air fitration system are running. Hope this helps in some way.

Default Air Filtration

I also have the Jet. Not sure about the Delta, but my favorite feature on the Jet is the ability to set the timer for a couple of extra hours after I'm done making sawdust. So if I were voting I'd recommend a timer feature.

Thanx guys
Based on your input I looked into the 1000B Jet unit , found one on sale at Woodcraft ( 10% off so it was about $200 ) and brought it home yesterday
Looking forward to setting it up this weekend

Default Congrats on the Jet

One thing I didn't mention is that you can squeeze standard size furnace filters into it (12x24x1 if I remember right, but they're a tight fit) so you can get just about any level of filtration you want. Plus you don't have to pay Jet's prices for filters. My first installation step (I did a hang from the ceiling mount) was to find a friend to help.

Default Good choice!!

You got a good buy on that. I know you will like it. I think you will be amazed at how much air it will filter quickly. I also did a ceiling mount, but did it by myself (got in a hurry). Based on that experience, I second the idea of getting a friend to help. Another pair of hands and muscles would have made the job a lot easier!!
