I was installing some baseboards this weekend. I have a 8.5 inch compound saw. I trimed a miter of one end of a baseboard and the waste piece kicked back into the saw and got trapped between the blade and the housing. I pulled the power cord, and removed the scrap of wood. When I replugged the saw in and turned it on it groaned and didnt move. So I took it to the workbench and started taking it apart. Inside the housing is a steel deflector that became bent and stopped the blade. I could have bent it back and finished off the project but who knows it if would happen again. It also broke one of the carbide tips off the blade. My wife said I should get a new saw since our anniverasry and my birthday are coming up quickly anyway. Well Canadian Tire is having a sale ![]() I got a 10" sliding compound miter saw with a laser. Guess I better do something really special for our anniversary!

Now if I can just figure just how to make mine do that then........Nevermind, my anniversary isn't for another 6 months. Nice saw, really like the laser feature, tried to retro fit a washer type laser to mine and my model was one of the ones that didn't have enough clearence to accept it. Still having to line it up before I turn it on, have to keep wishing.

That looks like a dandy of a new toy Carl. My old B&D miter saw is a real ape compared to that. BTW, Anything with a laser is always cool.

You lucky dog. I think you conned your wife. You now owe her big time. Congrats on the new toy. It looks like a handy dandy tool to have.

Bought my husband that same saw last summer to do the siding on our house. Works really well and has been used non stop all last summer and this summer to come till the siding is finished (we're a bit slow doing it all ourselves). Enjoy your new toy!

Hey Carl, That's taking advantage of the situation :-) I see it's part of their Maxximum line (which is a plus), how much are they asking for that cool toy? Regards, Marcel

Nice new toy, Carl ..:-) I've had the non-sliding version of that one for about a year now and it works fine. It was also bought when CT had a sale - think it was 50% off at the time. I'm a great fan of their weekly flier ...

Real nice saw Carl. Hubby and I were going out Sat. to buy the exact same one. We have a flooring project coming up and we really need a bigger saw, but as luck would have it, when we got up Sat and turned on the TV., it was a gonner, no picture at all, so we spent the money on a new TV. We'll get the saw next time it's on sale. BTW Marcel, the saw is a cool $ 199.99, $ 100.00 off the regular price. Quite a good buy! Marsha |

I hope you get a raincheck Marsha! Best part is the warrantee. 5 years. can't go wrong with that. Some things I found out though. Laser marking devices don't work at all outdoors on a sunny day. The slide feature doesn't work if you forget to release the tension Measure twice cut once, and do all the long walls first. There was the odd wall that I had to splice but they came out OK in the end.
