I got an email today inviting me back to be a judge for the junior woodworking division at our county fair... this will be the Fair's 100th anniversary and their planning on doing it up "BIG" this year.... the theme is animals, I wonder if my skate boarding bear counts.... 2 more weeks and I can start on the Harley-Davidson motorcycle I'm doing for my scale model entry.... I'm starting to get a little excited now! Trout

we still have time.... the deadline to register entries is May 21, all entries need to be at the fair on June 9, judging will take place June 12 and the fair opens June 20 and runs to July 8..... this will be my 3rd year judging the junior division. I enter my stuff in the adult division so they won't let me judge that... I have to thank this message board and all the great people here that helped me get the knowledge to become a judge.... Trout

today was judging day at the fair... it's a great feeling when they treat you like a "Rock Star" of wood working ...the sad part was that one of the first things they said to me was that they were sorry for the lack of participation there was only 12 projects in the youth division. they were all worthy of first place so they all got one, I can do that in the youth division! there was 4 big winners, one was a box and the other 3 was a little different and took some thought to the project so I rewarded them for that. I'll post pictures next week... I did get a sneak peak at the adult table and there was only about 12 project there too and 4 of them are mine.... there was only 2 projects in the intarsia division, mine and the guy who I gave my old scroll saw too. I see me winning first and him second just like last year.... my motorcycle is up against a sail boat which looked pretty good from what I could see... my cupcake boxes and my wine bottle caddy was sitting there all by them selfs so I don't know what there up against?... it was a fun hour and I think they were a little disappointed that I couldn't stay for lunch but it's graduation time so I had to get back to work.. Trout

His early professional career was as an attorney, judge, and later a writer. ... and perhaps above all else, fly fishing, with a special passion for wild brook trout.
