| I have been attending the Midwest Scroll Saw Trade Show for the past 8 yrs. During that time, I have entered 5 items in their Scroll Saw contest. My 2nd entry was the Old, New Train by Jeff Z. That received a third place white ribbon in the intermediate fretwork category. Last year, I entered my ' Covered Bridge' and that received the second place in the intermediate fretwork category. This year, I entered my 'Cana Island Light House' and to my surprise it received the blue ribbon in the advance fretwork category. This summer, I also decided to enter some of my projects in the county fair. I know that others have had issues with entries that were made from other people’s patterns. So I decided to only enter projects that I designed. I have no problems finishing items that I am giving as gifts. However I have issues with finishing projects for myself. So I entered a couple of projects that were not even cut. Of course I finished them on Sunday night & had to take them to the fair on Tuesday. I knew that my covered bridge & lighthouse would do well. But I didn't think that my Santa Space Ship ornament or my Japanese Wall hanging had a chance. To my surprise, I received a red ribbon on the Japanese Wall Hanging. The rest won blue ribbons. And I received a Purple Grand Champion on the Covered Bridge & Lighthouse. Needless to say I was completely shocked and amazed. Here are the pictures: |

| Thanks Mike, WD, Sally, Bill, Jan & Theresa. I have been thinking back to my first scroll saw project that I made in 2002. It was a little whale that took over an hour to cut. I realized that I have learned a whole lot since then. Of course I really do need to thank everyone on the forum. I only joined a couple of years ago, but I have been reading for your advice for years. My Sincere Thanks, Donna |

Donna, those are very nice & you should be proud of your accomplishments. I think the gratification swells up inside when you accomplish something as nice as that. Good Luck & keep up the wonderful Art works.

Thanks Perk for the kind words. I'm one of those people that always finds fault with my creations. So my accomplishments force me to keep getting better. Right now I'm trying to figure out what's next and what new skills can I develop. I know that I need to make some of those little birdhouses and then ???? |
