Permit for street performance/special event in Los Angeles? - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

I am having difficulty finding the correct office to clear a special event in Los Angeles. We are planning to have a band play on a public sidewalk for a media event/publicity stunt for an hour and need to make sure we have the correct performance permit. At the moment all I can find is the film permit board or how to get a permit as a street performer in Santa Monica.
