Default Kudos to a friends accomplishment.

There will be an article by our friend Carole, the one that got us hooked on making bowls, in a future issue of Woodworkers Journal. In all probability this will cause another wave of addiction to bowl making so anticipate a shortage bowl making supplies.
Congratulations' Carole, quite the accomplishment.

That should say accomplishment I cant edit the title.

I can edit the title and did--- just for you!

I got my issue this weekend. Thanx, Carole, for a very nice presentation of the "gospel of scrolling" to the woodworking masses. You never know who you might convert

Glad you liked it, Bruce. I still haven't seen the actual article yet. Maybe we'll get some converts from people who have no idea of the great stuff people can do with the scroll saw.

I tried to choose a project that could be done by someone without a lot of scrolling experience, but also one that looked like it could have been made by a "serious" woodworker. We'll just have to see what happens ...

Rolf, have you seen the new General Tools ad? They've picked up the Excalibur, but it looks like a joke they way they've positioned it with the other tools. In a world where bigger and powerful often trumps finesse and elegance, the scroll saw doesn't hold up too well.

Both Fine Woodworking and Popular Woodworking don't touch the scroll saw--I know, having queried both of them. As I've often complained, the morons in our community shop call it the "sissy saw" and make fun of any guy who uses it. That's why I'm so tickled that Woodworkers Journal asked me to do a piece for them. Apparently this was not always the situation--old FWW issues do have scroll saw reviews and articles, mostly marquetry.

OK, I'm done venting. My fantasy is that FWW will ask me for a piece, and I'll tell them what they can do with their offer . . . . .

Carole,

I received my copy of Woodworkers Journal and your article is great! Your picture holding the bowl is very attractive and the WIP pictures are well done. Congratulations! Amazing what your "sissy saw" can produce when used by you. Be sure the "boys" in the shop get a look at the magazine.

I agree with Nancy regarding the "boys" in the shop. I would leave a copy laying around just to tweak them a bit.

Like leave a signed copy open to the article on the cutting table.
Ask them, "When was the last time you got paid for using the sissy saw"?

Now wait a minute, sometime it pays for guys to think the scroll saw is a sissy toy. That's how I got my 788 almost new saw. The guy who pought it, used it a couple times, decided it was for sissy's and traded me a Hitachi router for it, not a bad deal considering the Hitachi was 1/2 the price he paid for the 788.

Congratulations on the article Carole, I haven't read it yet, but I'll be picking up a copy of the mag on my way home from work.
