Default Need your input please.

I have an order for a puzzle. They want it to be of a state map outline with the counties outlined & the name of the county legible on each appropriate piece. I'm having a difficult time coming up with this image for a tray style puzzle. I have found a printer in town who can enlarge it for me to the size I need and copy it to a vinyl overlay and attach it to my wood for me. However i cannot find a high resolution image of the image.

How would you puzzlers go about doing this project.

The wood is going to be BB 1/4" on top of 1/8" BB backer , tray style 9 x 15.

Couldn't I just have it printed onto heavy stock paper (20#) and clear coat it with deft finish like I do other puzzles?

This is a large order so I need to find the easiest, most productive way to do this project.

Thanks for your help.

Mike

Which state are you looking for? I would think the heavy paper and a clear coat would work fine we just need to find you a high resolution image.

Mike I think you need to wait for the snow to melt before you can get a good picture of North Dakota.

Thanks fellahs.

Jim I need something similar but they want the counties to be colored. I found 2 sites and have contacted them. They are both copy right protected. The first does not have a high resolution image available. I'm waiting on a response from the other.

Rolf you are probably more correct than you know......LOL

Tim.
got it thanks.

Can you get a public domain map from the state? You could then trace it in a vector graphics program and blow it up smoothly.

Here's a public domain map (and several others with this search). With all those straight lines it should be really easy to convert to vector graphics. This may even be doable programmatically.

Thanks Rob. I have figured out a solution. I will bookmark that one for future reference for sure though.
