The teddy bear is from a coloring book picture that I found on-line. I designed the cut-out heart and the way the legs and arms hook up.The other two dinosaurs are also from coloring book pictures. In the early picture, the T-Rex pieces are stained differently and coated with 2 coats of acrylic clear coat. The eyes of the giraffes and teddy bear from puchased from Michaels and are imbeded slightly to prevent kids from pulling them off (advice from another scroller). The graffe's eyes are 4 mm and are hard to handle ( used tweezers to put them in ) glued in with a spot of hot glue. The bear's eyes were large enough to glue with loctite super glue. The first Owl family puzzle is from Poplar, then I used solid cherry. One of the reasons I like using just hard woods. They seem to look better. I should have conditined the poplar wood before appling the stain. One of my favorites is a dachshund that I shrunk the patteren down to 5 inches in length and is made of dk. walnut. I also liked the way the beaver came out using cerejaria. My friend wanted me to make him a boston terrier so I found a picture and used walnut for the wood. I used 2 coats of 50/50 mix of Minwax tung oil finish and mineral spirits on all the hard woods. I just bought some real tung oil and also danish oil and will try those to see which one works the best. |

You did a great job on your Boston terrier. You got he essence of the cute face. I like that you take a simple picture and add your own cut lines to get the puzzle. It makes your options endless. Keep them coming.
