Default Future puzzles (i.e. Calendars I Couldn't Resist)

I made two calendar purchases this week after looking for a very specific beach calendar (a request of a co-worker) which I didn't find. I normally wait until the post-Christmas sales (1/2 price) and the mid-January sales ($1-$4), but I didn't want to roll the dice on these. I think they'll make some great puzzles.

The first is the Alex Beard Untamed 2010 calendar. You can buy commercial, coloring line cut (with no interlocks!) puzzles made from some of these images. The second is an Arts and Crafts Tiles. I'm excited to attack them, but I have a couple of other puzzling commitments first

Looking froward to seeing the finished projects...These should be intriguing.

Looks like those will take someone some time to solve! Wow!

I have to cut them first, but that's the point.

Hi, John! I think I would need a HUGE bottle of ibuprofen after assembling puzzles from the 1st one, LOL. They should look beautiful when done, though, and I bet they'll be fun to make.

Good to see that mean streak showing through!

G'day John,
Did you notice the fine print on the calendar mate.

Hi,
I really don't mean to start any trouble, but have a curiosity question. I know all the different wood groups discuss copyrights on patterns and who owns what. I'm assuming it must be OK to do since so many do it, but how do copyright laws apple to using prints from an artists calendar or book or magazine for a puzzle that will be sold? Or does that not apply if they are gifts?
Thanks in advance,
Vicki
