I started a thread a few weeks back ( Pediatric Cancer Fall Fundraiser Puzzles ) about some kids' puzzles I had cut to contribute to the upcoming "Kids Create Hope" sale at the 2009 Lewiston Harvest Festival. Some of you had asked me to post pics of the tent, etc, so here goes. The puzzles I discussed in my prior thread were of pictures made/colored by kids. I also launched a new "line" of puzzles which I call "Dragons For Dollars" to be exclusively sold for Kids Create Hope fundraisers. I have permission from the artist to use these dragons for this cause. Each puzzle contains 25-40 pieces, and are chunky enough for kids to use comfortably (but I post a choking hazard warning for kids 3 yrs and under on the boxes). ![]() Each dragon contains at least one "Helping Heart" piece, which I use in place of my typical Buff the Magic Dragon Signature Piece in my nicer puzzles. The message is basically to thank the buyer for "helping" to find a cure for pediatric cancer. You can see the heart on the butt of my sleeping dragon here: ![]() The boxes aren't as nice as my regular ones, but still make a nice presentation I think. Here's a pink dragon who found a home at the sale: ![]() And some more made up for future fundraisers!! The front of each box has a description of what KCH is all about. So here's how the tent and the sale turned out. Basically, with Kids Create Hope, youngsters make, or help to make, crafts which are sold to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Some things (like my puzzles) are made by adults, but kids show up in the tent in shifts and help to sell the goods. The puzzles sold great, and with all of the crafts we had, over a two day weekend we raised over $1,100 , which I thought was good considering some rain we had, and the economy! Just as important, the kids had fun and felt good about themselves afterward. Here was my display in the tent. Not really professional, but the best I could do with the time I had: ![]() ![]() We had about 15 kids help out at the show, which was great. Here are a few of them smiling proudly: Last edited by Scrolling Days; 09-30-2009 at 03:52 AM. |

Don't be so modest Shawn - the puzzles are wonderful and the presentations is super. So did you have pictures glued onto the wood or are they painted? Whatever they are wonderful!!
