Gosh I was so pleased for you John. But by the look of the responses - I was the only one that believed you. Well, someone in the world knows a piece of art when they see it and was willing to buy it. Actually all of us appreciate the puzzle as a work of art - but other life events get in the way. Congratulations JOHN!

iohonnes - Thank you and everyone else for your comments. The "Wilderness" puzzle set a mark on eBay which could stand for a very long time, and smashed my personal record by a factor of about 5! For this I'm extremely grateful. The 100 Puzzles Project has just seven more to go (yay!) with the slight possibility that the last one might attract that kind of attention. Back to iohonnes, I enjoyed looking at your Puzzles Del Meeple website and took note of the neat "The Regrettable Puzzle" - a cross between fretwork and a puzzle - I'd think there would be a market for this kind of puzzle on eBay. Stave Puzzles did something remotely similar once, an elaborate snowflake / snowmen puzzle. I have created a "non-seller" category of wooden jigsaw puzzle makers on my links page with your link being the first one, see Custom Puzzle Craft - Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle Makers - if I get flooded with requests I may pull the section, just not enough time! |

Did you solve your box problem yet, John? Something that nice should be boxed in something special, IMO.

Yes - I know it was that silly man Shawn that mislead me. But John needed to be congratulated! Besides - it's still a cute story.

Shawn, last week before the auction ended, I came to the same conclusion and ordered some rather large (14" x 11" x 4 1/4") custom made boxes from my box supplier, Friend Box Company in MA, in the same style as my other sized boxes.

John, thanks for the kind words and I feel honored to be on your "links" page. You've been on mine since I launched my site! Hopefully you'll enjoy your time with us - I view our forum as a great meeting place of (mostly) amateur puzzle makers. And by amateur, I mean the old-style olympic criteria, i.e. not paid professionals. Certainly I don't imply any lack of quality - between Carter, Shawn, and many others we have a lot of experience and talent that we like to share with all comers. I think it's great we are on a Scroll Saw website; we attract a lot of folks looking to branch out from other forms of scrolling and puzzle making is something just about anyone do and feel good about. Good luck on finishing the 100 puzzles project. The bidding on the last puzzle was very surprising; it's not often you'll find someone (let alone multiple folks) willing to part with that kind of money for puzzle. That's getting into the Stave range and nothing against Stave (I really enjoy their tricks and teasers) but that's entering a different segment of the market. I'll be following (certainly not bidding!) the last few puzzles in the series.
