I suppose I should have put this thread under "Works in Progress"....... As promised, I've started on card puzzles for Christmas, 2009, after completing 89 for last year. This year's cards are less pieces (26) and a bit more intricate. They're great phun to cut! I will continue to use the interior page from the original card as the cover/message sheet and back up the puzzle with a piece of probably dark green poster board. It's never to early to start! Hi Carter, Your puzzles always amaze me! I like to sit and study the pieces. It is amazing how you do such a fantastic job. You are truly a "puzzle" man. My best wishes go your way! Sonja |

Fantastic work Carter. I bow to your superior skills. Even after watching your video and using 2/0 puzzle blades I can't get my cuts that small. Are you using an even smaller sized jewelers blade? Thanks for sharing. george

George, I use the regular FD Superior Puzzle blades for these. I find them to be most responsive and last long. (I use jewelers' blades only for the little puzzles made from postage stamps.) The wood is my favorite - 5-ply poplar from Wildwood Designs. It holds up really well, allows for very easy, tight cuts, and is amazingly sturdy when finished. I had cards bought for this year in mid 08 and then I discovered these in December and couldn't resist getting a new batch and saving the others for the future. I immediately recognized this picture as one that had some great color-line puzzle piece possibilities. I've cut only these two so far but I bet the cuts won't hardly change at all from here on out. I will be keeping a supply of mounted and sprayed cards on hand and, whenever I have 20 to 25 minutes or so and want to accomplish something........ Great phun..... How does the card go together? Is the inside message glued to the dark green poster board and then folded over the puzzle to make a card? Thanks for sharing, Don |

Thanks, Don. They're separate sheets. As you pull the it out of its original envelope, you encounter 1) the second page of the original card (with space for a written message) 2) the puzzle, cut from page one of the original and 3) a colored backing sheet of sturdy paper. That's it. C |

Hi Carter, Those look incredible. Do you have a tutorial anywhere that explains how you work your magic? Thanks. Chris
