Default Inkscape info?

I am looking for a tutorial or someone to point me in the right direction with inkscape. I have tried Gimp but can't get it to do what I want which was to kern the letters. Now I have loaded Inkscape and have gotten it to do some of the things I want but can't figure out the adding graphics to words.

I want to do some of my own wordart and most of all I need to add graphics to letters for my grandkids names. I can get the letters and lines to connect for wordart but cannot figure out how to get the graphics in the right places.

Anyone?

Jim_Mex wrote a tutorial on Inkscape which is posted in the "Stickies" section of the Intarsia section of this forum. I found it to be very helpful and easy to follow.

Good luck. If you have specific questions, just holler. Someone will help.

I have watched all the videos above and they are all great.

I would start with the one mentioned by Don R first. Do the homework too as it really makes you learn a lot.

Then watch the others. The ones by Jim mex cover a lot too.
