Maybe a couple portirat with the date of the marriage or something to that effect. Or even a clock with some word art and the date.

I've made this Interlocking Wedding Rings Scrollsaw Patterns for Woodworking several times. It's very easy and nice. I personalized with initials on one side and 25th on the other. I made it out of oak.

i would go with messman,s idea.have the couple in a potrait with date,and word,s40TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY cut out...
