Hi Enzo, you can use the text tool on your drawing program or a program like Microsoft Word to type the letters in the font of your choice.....then select the letters and adjust the "kerning" (+ or -) of the letters to achieve how close or far away you want the letters to be. I hope this helps you a little bit.

Sue, I apologize in advance if it appears that I am jumping into your post to Enzo with kerning instructions.

Enzo, here are the instructions from Microsoft Word on kerning. Keep in mind that if you select the entire word or phrase, all the spaces will be condensed or expanded. If you only select some of the letters, only the spaces between them will be condensed or expanded. Hope this helps. Play with the instructions until you are comfortable with the results.

1. Select the text you want to change.
2. On the Format menu, click Font, and then click the Character Spacing tab.
3. Do one of the following:

Expand or condense space evenly between all the selected characters
Kern characters that are above a particular point size

Note Selecting Expanded or Condensed alters the spacing between all selected letters by the same amount. Kerning alters the spacing between particular pairs of letters.

Here is secone way to kern a word or phrase that also gives you options for word art style.

Click on word art icon at the bottom of the screen ( it’s the slanted A)
Select the style, I usually use the one in the upper left corner, and click OK then type in your word or phrase and pick the font style and size you want and click OK.
Click on the text and in the icon box that appears use the A-V on the far right to change the spacing. Be aware that you can only kern the entire word or phrase.

I would use Corel Draw. Type the letters out. Change the font to Subway.
Then select the Shape tool and a small node box appears to the bottom right of each letter. Grabbing that box you can move the letters individually to where they overlap like you want. Then convert the letters to curves and weld them together.
I like to change them to no fill and use a black outline on the text.
Then use the envelope tool and select the text and you can make the shape of the text like you want.
I have videos of this on my web site under Corel 9 Tips Video.

Thanks for helping Enzo, George and Rick. I'm not sure what drawing program you have Enzo so here are some picture illustrations for Microsoft Word following Georges instructions.
1. Open a new document in Word and type your name then select the entire name.
2. Select Format from the menu bar and then Font from the drop down menu.
3. Select the Character Spacing Tab and check the Kerning box and enter the size of your font then condense the spacing by changing the point size number. In this case my font size is 72pts and the spacing was condensed by 10 pts. You can use the arrows next to the number until you get it the way you want it to look. Your name will show up in the box on the bottom. Then click OK and it should look like picture 4.

I know it seems horribly low tech, but pencil and paper works well for unique word art. If you only want to do one or two names and are looking for something unique it can be a lot easier to hand draw than to learn a new drawing program.

Draw the basic outline of the shape that you want (in the "TheBoss" example, a straight line on the bottom and a curved line on top), then draw your letters within those lines. They don't need to be perfect to look good, but you can use a ruler or template to make straight or curved lines (coins are a good source of different radius curves).

You can fill any simple silhouette this way (Enzo would fit nicely in a Ferrari, no? ).
