I was wandering if there was a good place to put the sliders when adjusting them in the Photocopy mode. Also I can't get the whole picture to show up in Photocopy mode while adjusting. Only the little box. If anyone can help me Thanks. Michael |

Hi Michael, Inkscape and GIMP are two different beasts. GIMP is for "bitmap/raster"[1] based image editing and inkscape is for vector based graphics[2]. If you're starting with an image you scanned/found (.bmp,.jpg,.gif,.png,.tif), then you probably want to use GIMP to doctor it up. If you're starting from scratch and need to draw lines/circles/shapes, or already have a vector based image (.wmf, .svg) then you may want to go with Inkscape. 1 - Raster graphics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 2 - Vector graphics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ... Thanks for the plug, Guitarman. Trust me, I dont know all the ins and outs of Gimp. Hi Michael. As far as the photocopy mode goes, I really don't use it when making my patterns. Normally I use the <Edge Detect>-<Difference of Gaussians> filter. If you like using the photocopy mode, go for it! If I was using it to make a pattern, I'd set the <Mask Radius> at 50, sharpness at or close to 1 and leave the black and white percents at .2. As for the sample box goes, unfortunately it will only display a small sample. I am not aware of any way of adjusting the size in the sample box. Hope this helps.

I installed Gimp last week and thanks to this forum I have been able to make a little progress in playing with photos. Question. when I enlarge a face, cropped from the body in a regular snapshot it gets really bllurry. Is there a way I can get it back in focus?

I have found that if you movethe mouse over the edge of the box until you get the double arrows, hold the left button, and drag the mouse you can expand the photo box. Expand side to side and up and down. Still not the whole picture but a lot more than you start with. |
