Default County fair results are in

Well as I previously stated I decided to do a county fair that ran 6 days and ended yesterday.

Yes it was a bad idea

Covered costs and I mean barely. Booth set up was not very good on my part as I really need some shelving to provide more display space and to be more visually appealing.

Upside was we met a lot of nice folks and created a few friendships. Great practice for me in "real time" cutting key chains, name plaques and such for customers. Entered 5 pieces for judging and got 3 blue ribbons and 1 white.
My wife entered 4 pieces of her jewelry and won a blue and red ribbon. It was the first time either of us had entered anything for judging so we are pretty pleased.

Thankfully I had my scrollsaw with me and was able to create inventory in the down times.

All in all a good experience that I will NEVER do again

This weekend is a two day arts and crafts show. I will be adding much needed shelves and a 10' x 2' company banner. Prayers welcome

PS Next time I'll listen to the gurus advice. Thanks guys for trying to steer me in the right direction. You can say "I told you so"... I can take it!!!

Lord Bless

I WAITED patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay,
And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear
And will trust in the Lord.

G'day Kip,
Sorry it didn't turn out good for you mate, but I bet the ribbons took the edge of the disappointment.
Hope you handed out heaps of cards.

Great advice John - I'll try to remember that with my grandsons.
Kip - I really like the things I saw on the table - boxes and such. The display for the key ring was great.

Sorry Kip! I was hoping you would make a few bucks out of it!I'm new at scrolling myself, and just went to the the second (so they say) biggest crafts fair in Arkansas... Of the two booths selling scroll art (first one was trivets and box's) the one with three dollar Christmas ornaments did good from what I could tell...If three dollars a pop is good...He had some really nice fret work and word art that people liked, but no buyers....Your stuff looks great, but people are counting their pennies.. Don't let this one bad weekend ruin you on selling.Maybe give next spring (income tax time) a shot .

Just my opinion....Never sold at shows etc....

Jerry

PS----- Congrats to y'all on the ribbons!

Thanks all for the encouraging words.

Forgot to mention that custom name items accounted for over half the sales. I'll be taking my saw with me to all the shows I do if possible.

God bless Steve Good (the designer of the programs I use).
He also just added a feature to key chains that allows you to cut out "bone" shaped tags. Hopefully there's lots of Rover owners that like wood!

If you haven't seen his site you've missed some GREAT patterns that are free. I'll be making a donation soon just to say thanks.

You can visit his site at Scrollsaw Workshop

Congrats on the ribbons, Kip! They're well deserved! Is that you on the scrollsaw? I didn't recognize you without the hat and glasses, LOL!
