Default My weekend show

Just had another show on Saturday. It is a small local show, but attandance was decent. I do scroll work and my brother-in-law turns pens and key chains. Betwen the two of us we did about $400.00 - OK but certainly not setting the world on fire. I think there are going to be several orders that will still come through as a result of this show, we'll just have to wait and see.

Many people asked if it was laser ( I have a 18" x 24" sign that says everything is handmade and that no laser or CNC cuttings were used.) When I told them it was all done by hand they were amazed and asked how much patience I had to do that by hand. I did talk with two people who had purchased the new laser machine from Sears and were so disappointed with it, that they very quickly took it back. I thanked them for thinking that the cuttings were of good enough quality that they thought it was done by computer.

The best part of the show was talking with someone selling bird houses. He lives about 50 miles from me and asked if I was interested in some wood. He has a PILE of wood that he is trying to get rid of. He said that there was oak, walnut, poplar, cherry maple and others in this pile. He did tell me to bring a truck because the pile is large and he is just trying to get rid of it. So I guess going to that small show was worth while after all.

Glad you had a good show, at least you made something, that just goes to show that laser cuting doesn't compare to scroll saw cutting. glad he took it back. Edward

See, there's more to a show than selling your products. FREE wood, the people you meet, FREE wood, the fun of the show, and did I mention FREE wood?
