Most of the shows I do, there are only two scrollers, and we seem to show up at the same shows. Does it hurt me? Not at all. He does clocks, clocks & more clocks, plus portraits & sports stuff. I do baskets, boxes, ornaments & other stuff. We seem to compliment each other. There are also one or two turners. When you are applying for a show or inquiring about one, ask if it is a juried show and what are they looking for. Everything is "going green" so advertise that you use sustainable lumber and you will be surprised at the response you get.

Most of the shows I do I am the only scroller.I like to go around and see other wood working crafts when they are there. If I do run into another scroller we might talk for hours. First in one booth then the other. Bobby

I recently did a street fair in our town. I was the only hand crafted seller there. Lots of food and games however. I got lots of positive comments and some sales - enough to cover my expenses and some profit - but.... I think my booth was too crowded with people (all my kids and my wife showed up along with some neighbor kids who help me set up and close down) and too many items displayed on too small a surface. I learned however and will probably do it again next year.

I went to another show last week and there was not any scroll saw stuff there either..Was disappointed not to see anything scrolled but it did have more variety than the first one I went to..

Jimmy, your absolutly right but it won't all fit in the car. Maybe next time I can send them all out to get me some skyhooks and a couple of hundred yards of shoreline to display my stuff.

G'day George,
That's a real problem having mates stop by for a chat and to many helpers.
There's no easy fix unfortunately.

It's also a balancing act between putting enough product on the table to represent variety and so much that it becomes crowded.

I rarely put more than one of the same item on display at once, just replace it as it's sold.

Glad you day turned out being a winner.
