I did the first day of a 2 day fair yesterday. It was a mediocre day sales-wise. This was mainly due to lousy weather so I can't complain. My sales for day 1 were comparable to years past. The highlight of the day though was a woman who came into my booth. She said how she was so excited to see unique crafts instead of "nothing but jewelry." She spent $100 in my booth and I know she bought a couple of items from an artist down the way from me. Her excitement was a treat. I also had a couple of show promoters come and ask me if I'd be willing to do their show in October. The funny part is, I've tried for several years to get into this show and have never gotten in. I think I need to relook at my jury photos as they were thrilled when I said I thought that weekend was available for me. All in all it was a terrific day. Didn't get rich but made enough to pay my bills and eat for another week and still have today to go (weather forecast is excellent for today, sunny, dry and 80).

You got a warm feeling and something in the cashbox. Not a bad day IMHO. Has to make you feel better about your choices.

MAkes it feel like it really is worth while doesn't it. God on you and I hope you do twice as well in the cash box and three times as well in the warm and fuzzy department!

I had the same experience yesterday Kevin (except I didn't make any money ). Casey and I rushed like crazy to get from his out of town football game to the county fairgrounds to enter our families scrollsaw portraits. We beat the deadline with 20 minutes to spare, but the ladies that checked our pictures in were just head over heels about them. They had never seen scrolled pics before. I was really proud when one lady asked Casey "You did this?". He is so shy, he blushed a little and said "yes". I almost laughed! Congrats on drumming up some new business and good luck today on sales. Are you selling any pipes there? ![]() Jerry

All in all, it turned out to be a decent show. Most of the crafters I talked to did as well or better than in years past so that's a good sign. Today I received another big treat. Carole (handibunny) showed up with her husband and introduced herself. We gabbed quite a bit and I'm very happy to add another online friend that I've met in person. She's a great lady and I thoroughly enjoyed talking her ear off, hehehehe.

Well, Kevin, I enjoyed meeting you too, and seeing all the great stuff in your booth. I think you're the first online friend that I've met in person, but I hope not the last. Enjoyed chatting and hearing all the "inside" stuff. Hope to see you next week at the Pumpkin festival. |

G'day Kev, Good onya mate. Nice comments feed the soul, but nice cash feeds the stomach LOL The Ladies take on jewellery seems right for this side of the world as well. My Daughter makes Jewellery, using only Stirling silver and gemstones, and she has a hard time explaining why people should pay more for hers than the other 10 stalls that use wire and glass.
