Hi: I am new to scroll sawing and I am planning to sell my goods at one of our local arts and crafts shows. I live in a small town in Arizona and most of the population are older adults. From a marketing stand point could someone share what type of patterns would be best for the older adults. There are a number of soutwest patterns, but they are so common here, I don't think to many people buy them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Larry |

Crosses are usually a good seller with the older population.

You might consider toys . Most adults start to remember all the toys they had as a kid prior to not remembering anything at all . Something to think about . Roger |

Roger is right. Elderly people tend to buy for others as much as themselves, so anything they can buy for grandkids will sell - and if you can create nostalgia - all the better. I have sold book ends, novelty clocks and novelty jigsaws. For themselves, practical "pretty" things - baskets, trivets, picture frames etc Good Luck Sue |

Iv'e had had good luck with door hangings for their apartment doors and even for the door knobs...Welcome,Merry Christmas, holiday themes, go away, I'm out golfing, gone for the day, gone fishing, went surfing, etc.(gives them something to talk about) And as someone else said they are always looking for something for their grandchildren, small animal puzzles, zoo animals and childrens name's, A bargain box is very popular, if you have things that don't sell well, reduce their price or BOGO,put it in... for some reason bargains do work. Hi, Larry, I'm from Yuma & I noticed that the smaller items will sell better than the larger ones. At least here, the winter visitor's don't want to spend a lot for such things. You have some good ideas here, like Christmas ornaments, napkin holder's etc. Good luck Hope you find what they need. Perk

Hi Larry, I am one of those senior citizens and the last thing I want is something else to set around and catch dust. The grandkid thing is a great idea or things that are practical like an oven rack puller. Also, most RVer's I know have pets so maybe there is something there, but RVer's don't have a lot of room to store things so make it small and practical. I've cut out the different RV shapes, painted them and added a hanger and sold a bundle as ornaments. Good luck, Bev. in Texas
