G'day Tony, I'm in the same boat as you mate. Do they have any local markets near you, or even a trash and treasure. There's a monthly markets held in the main street of Boulder on the 3rd Sunday and I take my stuff there. There are craft stalls, businesses, Fund raising stalls, etc. It takes a bit of perseverance as a lot of people that frequent these type of events expect something for nothing, but after awhile, you'll notice that you will get what you ask, and you'll develop a following. The same with Trash and Treasures or swap meets. People expect to buy buy others junk and pay nothing for it, but if you persevere with a stall, you'll find that people will ask if you are going to be there next month etc, before long you'll do alright. Hope this helped a little. There are also special events held in Kal that I sometimes attend. If you see something interesting, just make a phone call and ask if they accept stalls. Rotary and Lions conduct an Xmas fair which I try to attend, there is the local spring festival.

Hi Tony . John has the right idea . I live in western Canada and the closest show I attended was in Oregon a few years ago . That has since closed most likey due to poor attendance . Most of the shows available seem to be in east or mid USA .Not much help . Roger |

Hi Tony and Eoin I'm from Norfolk, England. The only other scrollers I have met face to face are a couple of mates I persuaded to buy saws. They are both concertina repairers and use their saws for making new fretted ends for instruments. There used to be quite a lot of interest at the National Woodworking Exhibition (every Feb), but only Hegner display there now and the competitions seemed to have gone. There was even a magazine a couple of years ago produced by the Guild of Master Craftsman (our Fox Chapel, I guess), but it ran out of steam within a year (I got doll house making mags for the rest of my subscription). I really don't know the answer, and I, personally am not really a club joiner, although I would like to see more stuff. Keep looking and if you find anything, let us all know. Good Luck Sue |
