Diane! I didn't realise you knew Bob so intimately.

Bob,
I like the idea the others have suggested! I don't remember which is first to go & which is second, but I turn 55 today & I can tell you what it is like when it all goes!

Has there been any decision made on this, Bob?

I always thought small pictures on the index page of every project would be a very helpful way for people to quickly find what they're looking for. Then, rather than having to flip through all the magazines, you could quickly just go to the one page of each magazine and find the one they're looking for more quickly.

Shannon hasn't gotten back to me on the patterns, Betty.

As far as a photo of all the projects in the magazine, we've talked about that in the past, and just can't make the Table of Contents look even half-way attractive using all the photos. We've tried several options, but our newsstand consultant puts the nix on it every time.

Perhaps a photo index with thumbnails would work online.
A reference page here on the forum.
If there was a fear of the right click crowd you could make the thumbnails small enough they wouldn't be much use.

You could also have it as a subscription section where people could log in with their subscription number.

Just a couple of thoughts.. Amazing what sunshine and beer does for the mind!

Default Listing Issue number on patterns

Hi guys (Bob included),
I apologize for seeming like I'm ignoring this thread... I've been kinda "simmering" the idea. I'm a little concerned about cluttering the pattern. We already have to print the photocopy %, The professional copy disclaimer, copyright, designer and sometimes illustrator. Sometimes we struggle to fit all of those elements on there. I'm afraid adding another element is going to send poor Jon to the loony bin.

We're just starting to work on this issue now and I'll discuss the idea with Jon. (Him and Bob carpool on most days, so I'm sure they've already discussed it... )

Do you want to see them on just the patterns that appear on the pages of the magazine, or do they need to be with each individual pattern on the pull-out section as well?

Shannon, I know something like this takes alot of time and what is just a few numbers to us is a big deal to you to make everything fit and still look professional, so thank you for entertaining this idea. My main problem is I copy my patterns, put them in a folder or most times just toss them on the work bench, then when I want to look at the magazine, I have no idea where it came from. When I remember I write SSW #20 on the pattern so when I copy it I know where it came from. Operative words being "When I remember." I'm looking at the pullout section of Holiday Issue 25. For the F-14 Swingwing Fighter, Page 41, couldn't you put SWW#25 after page 41? It doesn't necessarily have to be on each piece of the pattern, just where you have the main information. Christmas Countdown, Page 36, SSW#25. Where you have all the ornaments by Kathy Wise, after Page 48, SSW#25. When we copy patterns from the magazine, the information is already at the bottom of the page. Would something like this be possible?

Again, thank you for such a great magazine and listening to us, even if it isn't possible.

Betty

What about a page in the magazine with small thumbnail pictures that we could print ourselves and add to the section as you are putting it away.

We hesitate to do that, Diane, because that is real estate where we could put another pattern...we want to give you the most value possible...
