| I received the Ultimate pattern pack Saturday. My list of projects to do has just increased significantly. My wife picked out a few things that she really likes. Now I am looking forward to getting the SSW magazine.
A Big Thank you to all of the people who contribute the designs and the hard work required to get it published and in our anxious hands.

| I was looking for a copy when I was down in the good old USA today. I checked the biggest magazine racks in Sandpoint , Idaho but it hasn't arrived there yet . Maybe it will reach that far north by time I go back next time probably in another couple weeks.

| I must say that I was a little disappointed. I love the magazine, There were only about three things that I would even consider cutting.I guess not all issues are going to be a winner for all of us.There are many beutiful {sp} things in it. Just not alot of the the projects would I ever care to do. I guess thats why I also get the other scrollsaw mag for things to do.

| Well, luckily for me, this issue didnt get lost in the mail. Although I will admit, I havent had time read it cover to cover, I did give it a thumbing through a couple times. As for the cover look... very good. I noticed today at Sprawl-mart the magazine display (which doesnt carry SSWC), the magazines that stick out, with the brighter covers tend to draw the eye more, and this cover is much brighter and better looking then the other scrolling mag currently on the racks, so its a plus. The cover project is really nice, although for me, I wouldnt use leaves in the top, but some other shape, but the corner joints are great! There are admittedly many patterns in the issue I dont care to much about, but volkers shadowbox is great, and Sues backpack is just so creative and cool, I will do that. I will do it, then wish I could get mine to look as good as hers does! The punkins... well, the design is neat, but why not make it into something with a light bulb hidden inside, the light shining through the eyes and such. Thats what I will do, but its way down on the list. The leaping whitetail is nice..maybe someday.I like the witches brew, but cant paint worth a crap, and theres no directions for getting such a nice background, so i'll pass on it. I dont care for the chair, but i am opinionated (long winded too huh?) There is the ebonizing artical that will help out a lot, as that topic on here has been discussed at length a time or two recently. I wasnt to impressed with the leafs or the ornaments, but at least the John Nelson patterns didnt have that big fat hard to accuratly follow line, like the project in the UPC (ultimate pattern collection). My favorite project.... the intarsia family tree. Kathy is outstanding. I am still trying to get up the nerve to do the holly wreath from a long past issue, now she sticks this one out there to hurry me along! Good job Kathy! And, by the way...if Kathy reads this thread... I havent looked for the fox yet, but spent time looking at the tree pictures, wondering which was you...and, I am guessing second one up from the bottom!!!
There are tons more patterns in the issue than I talked about, but times runnin out, fireworks in a little while. To sum it up.. the issue looks great, seems to be laid out easily and efficiently, and exceeded my expectations of a worthwhile magazine. Keep up the good work,I appreciate it! Also, thank you for asking for input! Dale |

| Dale,
There are no instructions for the background because our Photographer added that literally at the last minute!
We were re-photographing that piece because we didn't like the way the first one turned out when the photographer just grabbed a piece of foam core and started painting!
I think it would look very cool with just a white or pale yellow background as well.
Kevin,
Can you give me a little more feedback on what you like and don't like? I can't put things in if you don't tell me what you want <Grin>

| I like the new format. My one complaint is the the lack on consistency in the photographs of the authors makes it look a little cheesy. I don't know how you would get around it but I don't like the "here is a photo I had laying around" look.

| My issue arrived Monday, I like the new format, especially having the basic scrolling instructions up front and not repeated for each project. I like several of the projects, as does my wife. It is a good thing that I don't want to do all of the projects or I would go into serious overload.
Thank you!! It must be very difficult for all of your designers and staff to come up with new ideas and designs.
