While I realize some of you are still "patiently" waiting for the issue, it has arrived in many homes.... And as always, I'm eager to hear what you think. I really like Kim Braa's fresh new approach to painting. For those of you intimidated by painting your scrolled work, this looks to be pretty fool-proof. Let me know if you give it a shot - I think I might just try this technique with my son! One of my favorite projects in this issue is Eric Van Malderen's cross. I actually stumbled across that little beauty right here on the forum and I just fell in love with it - it's so simple, yet so beautiful. Sue's stamps are a cool idea - and every time I look at the photo I get hungry for bread - bread is my biggest weakness.... So.... What projects have you eager to get in the shop and make sawdust? What didn't you like about the issue? Are you planning to attend any shows this summer? As a footnote to my editor's column.... Change is a brewing.... I was thinking about this as I wrote the column, but a final decision hadn't been made at the time.... We are bringing subscription fulfillment back in house. We thought outsourcing was the way to go - it's what most publishers do. We gave it a shot - and found that we miss having our front line here in the office. So - as of February 1 (target date) when you call us (888-840-8590) you'll get one of the smiling faces sitting in the front office right here in East Petersburg, Pennsylvania. We're currently hiring another customer service rep to make sure all your questions are answered in a timely manner. Oh - and by the way.... I've been so busy coordinating the transition, the summer issue will be delayed by two months... Just kidding.

Only think I didn't like about this issue was that somebody forgot to put the fox in it |

| Hi Shannon, I thought it was a great issue. I don't generally (err... I have never) made any projects directly from the magazine, but there are several here on my stack if I ever do. I read it for ideas, and this one was full of interesting ideas. I agree that Kim Braa's article was very good. It reminded me a lot of Huichol beadwork and some similar painted items from Mexico. I will definitely use this: I've some ideas for embellishing some puzzles with this technique. The farm was a lot of fun. My nieces need this. I haven't looked for the fox yet, but I'll be disappointed if it's not in the henhouse I always love the Peterson's work, and the whales are no exception. The wood used in the sample was beautiful (and is that Bob's signature on one end? ) The bracelet and stamps were both interesting out-of-the-box items that most people don't think of making on the scrollsaw. I've a shortbread cookie recipe that I haven't made for a while. Mmmmmm. I dabble with making glass beads on a torch, and I'm always looking for good ways to mix glass and wood. The beaded box was great for this (even if it was fretwork ). I enjoyed the intarsia pieces. The mice are adorable, our backyard's overrun with chickadees, and the ladybugs on JGR's door topper were the icing on that one. If I ever finish the darn frog.... I usually skip over crosses, but agree that Eric Van Malderen's was eye catching and elegant. Portraiture & intricate fretwork aren't my thing, so I barely even looked at the other cross or the basket. The TOC isn't online yet, so I'm not sure if I forgot anything else (and if so if because I skipped it or if I just blanked). On another note: the magazine wasn’t diminished at all by coming barely a month after my previous one Keep ‘em coming!--Rob Last edited by Arcy; 01-12-2010 at 08:16 PM. Reason: spelling |

Nope...I didn't graffiti that puzzle. If I'd have signed it, you wouldn't be able to read it <GRIN> That's just the natural spalting of the wood. Bob

I definitely will take a look at several of these projects...the Fretwork Basket, the Whales (got to love the Peterson's), the beaded Fretwork tray, the Cross, the Floral Clock, Sweetheart Picture Frame (simple and beautiful), and stamps around my cutting of puzzles. I love all of your beautiful intarsia projects, but it is just not my cup of tea. I really do enjoy seeing the complete intarsia projects, but I just truly hate to do a lot of sanding. Shannon and Bob, this issue is great as always. darrel......

| Shannon- Great issue! I am busy making the farm play set. The basket Dale cut is beautiful, how could it not with Pedro designing it, and the perfect place for it is in the middle of the magazine. I will, at some time, make that. The whales are a good looking puzzle. I didn't know what to think about the fish with the dots on it. I have never seen anything like it. I don't do intarsia, but they were beautiful. Maybe I could do Got Cheese as a Segmentation...sorry 'about that Kathy. As I said, great issue I really enjoyed it. -Bill

I always look for the simple projects. The whales and the mice eating the cheese are on my project list. The other projects are nice and I will consider some of them down the road. As long as I find one project I like, I'm happy. The mix seems good to me. Keep up the good work!
