| Administrator | ![]() I was wondering if you guy had a chance to see the new promo we are offering for our Best of SSW books? We were testing out a new flip-book preview which, we think, helps show the cool projects included included in each of the books (sorry I can't embed it in the message board). We wanted to get your feedback as to if you like this feature and we should use it with more of our new books? Thoughts, questions, comments? Thanks, --Claudio |

Looks good. I really really really really really really like being able to see all the projects in the book and examples of the writing style (even though in these specific cases the writing style will vary from author to author). It's very difficult for me to order a book like this sight unseen: usually if I can't get it locally I'll skip it. This gave me enough information that I'd be comfortable ordering it (I tempted even though I have the original issues of all the ones I'm interested in). --Rob Did I mention I really liked the full color & size content page? |

Claudio, I think that is a pretty cool feature, actually. The only drawback I found was that once I was in "flip mode" I couldn't get out of it, until I discovered the mouse rollover on the top of the magazine. If a static exit option could exist, I think that would be nicer. Otherwise, it is a nice way to give somebody a quick "feel" of the quality of the book. |

I found this new preview mode to be much more usable than the google preview available on several of the existing books. I just used the google preview to look in the Peterson's Zodiac and Animal puzzle books and was much more frustrated by the interface than educated about the contents. --Rob |

I agree with Rob... It's great to be able to see some of the pages inside the book, (something that the old website used to do pretty well), And it definetely works better than the Google Preview. There are books, like the Carving Gargoyles with Shawn Cipa, that I've never been able to see inside. The Google Preview doesn't work at all. So, yes!!! include this for all new books, and maybe some of the older ones too.

Excellent feature. I agree with Rob and Jim that the format is considerably better than the Google and Amazon "look inside this book" system. Jan |

I like it! Especially the overview I find excellent. When sitting across the pond without the possibility of taking a look except on the net, this is a necessity if you want me to buy. Second that all your books should be presented this way.

Agree with Rob in that I rarely order a book because I can't see what's inside. I usually skip some magazines and books in the book stores if they are sealed so I can't flip through them. The only exception is something that I KNOW I'm going to buy regardless of how it's packaged. Thanks for exploring options to make previewing much easier!

Although I like surprises I think this is a great idea. I am very rarely dissapointed with your books, so I will buy them even if I don't know what all of the content is, as long as the subject area appeals to me.
