Default Kudos to Gary MacKay and Fox Chapel

Often times we post cuttings, even crediting the pattern maker. I just wanted to post something acknoweldging an excellent book put out by Fox Chapel. It's entitled Box-Making Projects for the Scrollsaw by Gary MacKay. This is a very useful book for those of us who do a lot of fairs. The boxes are all fairly simple to make and done a little differently than ways I've used in the past. I did eliminate a couple of steps and one cut from the boxes with lids but they can be done step by step as shown in the book. None of the boxes I've done take much more than an hour or so. This one investment should pay for my subscription for about the next 100 or so years. (Do I get any special gift for renewing for 100 years?)

Job well done!!!!

Thanks for the info Kevin. I've been eyeing that book too. Will have a look closer at it when I'm at work tomorrow (at Woodcraft )

Kevin
I'll second that! Excellent patterns. Gary makes it easy to follow the instructions and it has excellent photos. I have made many of the boxes as gifts.

I bought that book at the Open House 2 years ago and it has paid for itself over and over! Great job, Gary.

Not fair--you get to work in the toy store!

I'm pleased this thread has been bumped. I've been thinking of asking Santa if I can have this book for Christmas. With such positive comments, it's definitely going on my list .

I have to agree...this Gary MacKay book is one of the best! I have built almost every box in that book and each one gets better and better. Designs are easy to cut by any skill level and people love them as gifts! Thank you Fox Chapel and a big THANKS to Gary MacKay!!

Diane (Dragon)-I have used both scroll & band saw for the boxes. But mainly the scroll saw.
