Shannon,
I normally don't like crossword puzzles because I can't ever finish them or even get halfway through. I loved this one because I felt like a genius!!!! Thanks for a great great issue. Connie

Mine's just arrived!!!

This has to be the best issue ever! Loads of Christmas decoration patterns arriving in September so we've got time to cut them before seasonal markets and festivities. All the patterns are winners, especially Gary MacKay's Holiday Plate (but then, I'm a huge fan of Gary anyway) the great variety of Carl's projects and the appearance of Julie and Fred Byrne. Neal Moore's whimsies are so cute and as much as the Pedaling Bobby makes me smile, I'm also giggling at the name of the project's contributor - Robin Balls! Was ever a name more appropriate for such a seasonal publication? What next, an article by Emma Dreaming, Arthur White and Chriss Muss?

Best of all is the way that the issue recognises the contributions this forum has made (and continues to make) to the scrolling community by publishing tips exclusively from us! Thank you so much, Powers That Be. I'll even forgive you calling me 'Dexter' instead of 'Edwards' (I married last summer) and mis-spelling my home county (it's Worcestershire, not Worchestershire ) .

Oh, and before I vanish up my own chimney in a flurry of delight - my overall favourite was Dale's Elegant 3-D Ornaments. I've cut similar projects before and they're always a big a hit. I can't wait to get started on Dale's.

Gill

Thanks Gill,You made my night!!! When you cut them, mainly the more detailed one, take your time removing the waste pieces, they are a PITA to get out as theres so many little pieces, they interlock with each other inside, but they do come out! I have a few more compound designs I'm working on that I'm sure you will like , I just need to do some fine tuning on them.
About the crossword... I think that was a nice refreshing change of pace, and although I wont write in the magazine (just because Im wierd I guess), I did go through it and did the puzzle in my head. A long time ago, I used to make puzzles much like that one just for kicks. From cover to cover, the issue is a winner! I still havent chosen a favorite project in it though, but the Nelson frame is REALLY nice, and for cute n fun, that little pedaling Bobby is really neat as well. And, I didnt notice the authors name, until Gill pointed it out!!! LOL!

In the article, 'Ingenious Animal Family Puzzles', who gets credit for the patterns? I see that they were cut by Ben Fink.

WOW Shannon & BobD! Aren't you glad you "got tired of hearing me gripe & complain about Christmas in July" and got this mag out? Look at all your rave reviews!! Seriously, I have to say again what a great issue you have put out. I finally have time for the next 2 weeks to get ready for my shows and this mag is on the top of my pile to work from. In fact, it may be the only one I work with, it's that good!!! I am starting to make puzzles and just love the ones in this issue. I can't single out just one item I like more than the rest as everything is SUPERB! So, now when is the next Open House? Isn't it getting time for your 20th year anniversary?

Betty

Hey, if you are going to have an open house, maybe it should be more of an outdoor open air retreat thing. New Mexico is the perfect place for that. Need a guide?
