WTH!!!!!!!!! I just checked on my subscription status out of curiosity and see that the next issue (which is the Holiday Issue!) has an expected mailing date of October 2nd. GRRRRRRRRRR seems those of us that subscribe should have it in our dusty (saw dusty that is) little hands before this goes out on the newsstands.

The regular holiday issue mails to subscribers 9/30 and is supposed to be on newsstands 10/21. This thread is talking about the special issue - you can get it free with a paid 2 year subscription or purchase it separately for $9.95. The special issue was due to mail to subscribers on Aug. 12 and be on newsstands 9/2.

We've had this conversation on the WCI message board - and it seems the newsstands always have the issue on shelves before the date they are supposed to. I'm not quite sure why that happens...

So - as always - I want to know what you think about the issue - good, bad, and ugly - but I'm dying to know what you think of the crossword puzzle!!

Pajaro -

It looks like when you last renewed, you were set up to receive the Ultimate Scrolling Pattern Collection (it would have either had a raccoon or a horse on the cover). So you are not set up to receive the new Holiday special. Let me know if you did not receive the Ultimate Pattern Collection.

And as a reminder - This Holiday Special will be used as the free gift for a 2-year subscription from now until 2010 when we create a new one... so you can wait and get it next time you renew - you can renew ahead of time - or you can purchase it separately at the link Bob provided above.

Ack - sorry about calling it the wrong name! It's my fault calling it the holiday issue. Any way you can fix the title of the post Shannon??

I think the issue is Great Shannon! There are a lot of things on my "to do" list. I've already started the intarsia ornaments.

I got my copy tonight too from Chapters. As I need to normally wait a few weeks extra for the subscription to make it to Canada, I was very pleased to find this one so soon. It is really fantastic by the way! Great designs, great projects for beginners and advanced. Love it.

Got mine today - a great variety of projects.
Dale - my favorite is your wenge ornaments where you use the bleach and aniline dye technique for a two-tone finish - very attractive! Kathy Wise's mini intarsia ornaments are delightful, especially the bear. Theresa, love your inlay ornaments and bulbs. Bruce designed some great intricate ornaments - one of them has many, many inside cuts.

Carl, the box of elves game and hidden treasure ornaments are both winners and Donna did a great job on painting them. The acknowledgments for the candy cane express read like movie credits ~smile~ a great joint effort by all concerned - the painted version is super cute.

Fred & Julie's Christmas tree is a very clever idea and it is nice to see CDs/DVDs used creatively (Carol & Homer's projects). Neil, I did not realize that your ornaments were segmentation until I read the instructions - maybe it's just the photo...If I had to make them I'd round over the edges of the pieces a bit more than Ben did (just my opinion). I am not a big fan of baskets or puzzles but those projects are attractive and well presented.

All in all a great publication - Shannon, Bob and everyone involved should be pleased with a job well done!

Ha, got mine yesterday at Borders. All the talk of it being in stores, I just couldn't wait to order it here on line and then wait and wait. That would almost make me feel like all those foreigners (you know from Canada, the UK and all over) who have to wait Us Americans got to have it NOW!

I love it, looked through it a couple times already and I'm ready to cut (while I have other things in line first, but you know what I mean).
