Default SSW #32 - Fall 2008

Hello All,

Well I see that quite a few of you have received the latest issue, and even posted some great feedback for us. Most of you know the drill.... I want to hear what you think - what did you like? what didn't you like? What do you want more of?

William Berry's skeletons are one of my favorite projects in this issue. Of course I like all the projects - but I just love Halloween - it's such a fun, no pressure holiday. I wanted to put the skeleton on the cover (the shot you see on the table of contents page) but our publisher said it was too early for Halloween on the newsstands. Bah Humbug I say! But the Elk is beautiful and should draw in a few new readers.

What did you guys think of the fruit-cutting article? Do you have any scroll saw patterns that you are going to try out on fruit? Pumpkins are a natural - but how about scrolling a design in a watermelon for your 4th of July celebration? I just may give it a try!

I'm especially interested to hear what you think about the marquetry article. Have you done marquetry before? Will you try it? Do you want to see more articles on marquetry?

Okay folks - give us the good, the bad, and the ugly. Don't worry that you will hurt our feelings - we can't fix it if we don't know it's broke! Feel free to send me a private message if you prefer.

I haven't gotton my copy yet. I'm looking forward to getting it as always. I think they go through all they have and find the one that doesn't have the hidden fox in it and send it to me. I hate when that happens. David

Hi Shannon

Issue 32 is fantastic. I just got the magazine two days ago and already cut the skeletons out.I also will be cutting the old west portraits, I love cutting native americans. I also like Winter woodland,Autumn coasters and textured frame. The article on Scrolling out a future stikes home ,my 12 year old som has aspergers and loves to scroll also. Keep up the great work that guys are doing on the magazine. I look foward to eash issue.

Thanks
Joe Trafficante

Thanks for another useful magazine. I will be doing the Ribbon Box, Napkin Holder, and Inlay Coasters. I personally would like to see more compound cuttings, and put in some miniatures. Your hard work getting the magazine together really shows. Good job folks.
Will the special edition Holiday Ornaments Toys & Gifts be on the news stands also? If so, when?

No copy of the magazine here yet.

I think Carson City must be still using the Pony Express to deliver magazines as I rarely even get the magazine by the "drop dead" date for the bulk mail.

Dan
Was also thinking of the pony express. Perhaps they are still feeding him for the long haul....

I love the issue, but then again it's my first issue! Seriously though, it's a great magazine with some very helpful stuff for a new scroller. I can't wait to tackle some of these projects! Josh
