It would take a lot to beat the EX21. I've owned it for many years and it's given me great service. I think its bearings are starting to go though and it's unfortunate that there's no longer parts for it.

But that's not the case with the EX-31. It features a springloaded cam that locks into precision-machined holes at most common angles
OK Bob, you let the cat out of the bag. When is the EX-31 coming out and how did you get one?

I have had my EX-21 for only a year. Love it. I have not seen the EX30 up close yet.

AL... check with SEYCO Ray may be able to help you with parts. I Hope so. I had planed on keeping my EX-21 for a long time.

The EX-31 has been out for a while. They seem to have changed the controlls, I took mine back and got a new Dewalt. Wanted the larger reach of the Excalibur but like the controlls a lot more on the Dewalt.
The EX-30 has no adjustment for tension the way Dewalt saws have. It is just a lever that flips over a cam. I adjust the tension quite a bit as I cut threw thick wood and the Dewalt lets me do that. The speed control is also a bit bigger on the dewalt and I also play with that during a cut.
It might of been how it was set up but it vibrated so bad I could not cut with it. I tried a few different ways of bolting it down with rubber etc. After a couple of weeks of frustration I took it back and am very glad I did.

If General wants to send me another saw I would be glad to give it another try with the guy from Seyco (sorry i can't remember his name) helping with info on setup.
I tried to get that info and could not find it. Have read on this forum that he can help get rid of the vibration, but untill I see a few post here from new EX-31 owners that are very happy I will pass on the saw that cost twice as much as the Dewalt.

Alan.
Pete posted his website (Seyco) and name (Ray Seymore) in the post below yours.

Other than your horror story I've only heard good things about the redesigned EX-30. The one I test drove in PA allayed my fears if I ever need to replace my purple aircraft carrier (older EX-30). I too cut a lot of very thick wood, just never have to mess with the tension on the EX. As long as your sawing and happy, that's all that counts.

Al,
Have you asked Ray at Seyco about parts for your saw? The EX-21 didn't change much other than scrapping the Dewalt type controls for the original design (and that butt-ugly green color).

Then why doesn't Seyco know about it?

Sorry got the numbers wrong it is a 30". General Tools Canada owns Genereal Tools International. GT Canada makes high end tools that I could never afford. GT International is the offshore stuff. I get confused with pictures being posted on this site and what our local store is selling. There seems to be some differences.
General has been selling the Ex-21 and 30 in Canada since last year.
Kevin seems to follow this, maybe he can jump in here.
I just hope Dewalt does not switch their controls to what Excalibur is selling here.

Relax Alan, I was just pulling Bob's chain for the typo. I saw it in the magazine, but waited for something to come up on this thread before saying anything.
