| I use clear tape under the pattern. Really helps prevent burning.

| Under the pattern.I don't use tape when cutting fragile cuts, only spray glue. |

| Acutely I do both. I use clear on the board and then on the pattern, but sense the pole is top or bottom I vote for on top of the pattern.
Lately I have been using clear shelf paper over the board.

| I use blue tape under the pattern on small projects and clear contact paper on the large ones.

| Never thought about both...
If you want to change your vote, PM me with what you voted, and what you want to change your vote to. I'll add a both category.

| I voted both - purple painters tape under and clear over, but typically only use the clear if I'm cutting 1/2 inch or thicker hardwood.

| I do both. If it is a small piece I will forgoe the clear tape on top. Of course the other day I forgot an important step.....the glue for the pattern. I just taped it down with clear which made it very difficult to cut when the pattern started to come up. OOPPSS....

| Depending on the project, blue painters tape on bottom and clear on top. If I use self adhesive paper, then just clear tape on top.

| Could someone post pictures of the different methods? I am just starting to learn about scrollwork and am really confused about this - how does the pattern get held down if you only have tape under it? for example.
It appeas nobody transferres the pattern to the wood using carbon paper or similar. That seems like a good way to me, but you guys don't do it. I am guessing it doesn't work well... ? |

| I use blue painters tape directly on the wood, then use a glue stick or spray adhesive depending on the size of the pattern. Have not seen the need to put clear on top of the pattern also.
