I prefer to top feed with my G4, but I had to learn the hard way about keeping the sawdust out of the blade clamp when I released the blade. I wondered for a long time why the blade kept slipping out of the bottom clamp after cutting a few holes. Now, I give the clamp a shot of Dust-Off each time I release the blade. Problem solved!

I just lift the arm with my left hand and feed the blade with my right. It's such an automatic motion that there is virtually no time involved.

I'm with William, once you've top fed on a P-20 you wondered why you ever fought the bottom feeding. The Quick Chuck II makes it so easy to develope a feel for where the blade should line up. Of course I did find it more difficult after I grazed my thumb on a #5 skip tooth blade. You can't feel the blade as easily with band-aid on your thumb....

I am a bottom feeder.....sound like a real letch
It is the saw that holds me to it. I would prefer top feeding for fretwork.

Top feeder here.
Started with Dewalt and found bending over and hunting tiny holes on large pieces was a pain. Top feeding was much easier for me . Now have a G4 and top feeding is even easier due to more verticle drop of the blade through the work piece and table hole and the swivel in the blade holders. When looking for a new saw here recently I didn't even consider any saws that you could not top feed.

When I had my Dewalt, definitely top feeding. Now that I'm back to my Dremel, I'm back to bottom feeding. Preference? Top, hands down.

on the g-4, and i never could get the hole thru the top and get a good connection on the bottom clamp. it was always several inside cuts then little pig tails on the bottom side of the blade, or blade slipping out. the old clamps were very large compared to the newer clamps. i have not used the g-4 for fretwork since i bought a hegner. i find it very easy to remove the bottom clamp insert the blade in those little aggravating holes slip in thru the slot in the table. doug
